We received reports of this issue and it appears it is not happening specifically with our enclosure as other Mac users reported having the same experience with enclosures from another brand -- My Mac Studio only recognizes my Thunderbolt SSD enclosure as USB 3.1 and not as a Thunderbolt device

Through testing, we found that the following steps fixes the issue:

1. Disconnect the enclosure
2. Reconnect the enclosure (make sure you are using the cable it came with)
3. Shutdown the Mac
4. Turn on the Mac
5. Check System Information
