Good to know: The SM3 can stay connected to up to 4 devices at once. Two via Bluetooth, one via the 2.4GHz USB receiver, and one via the USB-C cable in wired mode.
Step 1: Turn On the Keyboard
Move the power switch on the top edge of the keyboard from OFF to ON.
Step 2: Connect via Bluetooth (Up to 2 Devices)
The Bluetooth 1 and Bluetooth 2 pairing keys are part of the shortcut key cluster above the number pad, in the top right corner of the keyboard.
- Press and hold one of the Bluetooth pairing keys (Bluetooth 1 or Bluetooth 2) for about 3 seconds, until the LED begins to blink.
- On your computer, tablet, or phone, open Bluetooth settings and select "Slim SM3 Keyboard" (it may also appear as "Bluetooth Device") to complete pairing.
- To pair a second device, repeat the same steps using the other Bluetooth pairing key.
Step 3: Connect via the 2.4GHz USB Receiver
- Plug the included 2.4GHz USB-A wireless receiver into an available USB-A port on your computer, adapter, hub, or dock. The receiver is stored on the bottom of the keyboard.
- Press and hold the USB Receiver key (in the shortcut key cluster above the number pad) for about 3 seconds to connect the keyboard to that device.
Step 4: Use Wired Mode
- Connect the included USB-C cable from the keyboard to your computer.
- Press and hold the Wired Mode key (in the shortcut key cluster above the number pad) for about 3 seconds to switch the keyboard to the wired connection.
In wired mode, the keyboard also charges and stays powered on.
Step 5: Charge the Keyboard
Connect the included USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the keyboard. The charging LED will light up while charging. Charge for 2 to 3 hours, or until the LED turns off.
Step 6: Swap Between Media Keys and Function Keys (FN + Esc)
Press FN + Esc to turn the function key lock on or off. This swaps the top row between media controls and standard function keys (F1 to F12).
The Esc key will keep flashing while function lock is on. Press FN + Esc again to switch back.
Step 7: Switch Between macOS and Windows Modes
- Press FN + O to switch the keyboard to macOS functions.
- Press FN + P to switch the keyboard to Windows functions.
Step 8: Num Lock and Caps Lock LEDs
- Num Lock only works when the keyboard is in Windows mode and paired with a Windows device. The Num Lock LED lights up when it is enabled.
- Caps Lock: the blue LED lights up when Caps Lock is enabled.
Step 9: Backlight Timeout and Sleep Mode
On a wireless connection, the backlight turns off after 1 minute of inactivity. After 30 minutes, the keyboard enters sleep mode to help conserve battery life. Press any key to wake the keyboard and it will automatically reconnect.
Step 10: Swap in the Windows Keycaps (Optional)
When using the keyboard with Windows, you can swap both OPT keys and both CMD keys with the included Win and Alt keycaps.
- Lift the macOS keycaps straight up to remove them.
- Push the Windows keycaps straight down into place.
Note: Only the keycaps are removable. The switches are not hot-swappable.
Reset All Connections
To reset all device connections, press FN + Del + End. After the reset, pair your devices again using the steps above.
