This firmware update is for all keyboard language layouts for the Compact Backlit Keyboard. The update includes the "FN" key update to match Apple's "FN" key combination functions including forward-delete and other combination commands that use the "FN" key. The update also includes other bug fixes that were present in the initial release of the keyboard.
If you are using the X1 Backlit Keyboard, X3 Backlit Keyboard, or full-sized Aluminum Bluetooth Keyboard, this firmware update is not compatible and may prevent further connectivity or compatibility of your keyboard.
Please follow these instructions to update the firmware of your Compact Backlit Keyboard:
- Download NRF Toolbox application from the Apple App Store or Google Play store.
- Download the attached ZIP file using the following link (https://support.satechi.com/hc/en-us/article_attachments/360069302872/Compact_Backlit_Keyboard_Firmware_Update.zip - Compact Backlit Keyboard Firmware Update.zip) on your mobile device and then export it to nRF ToolBox. If you are on a computer, download the ZIP file, transfer it to your mobile device (direct transfer, email, cloud, AirDrop, etc.) and, then, export it to nRF ToolBox.
- Once the DFU file has been uploaded to NRF Toolbox, while it is turned off, place the keyboard into DFU mode by holding down the “FN + O + DELETE” keys simultaneously, and, while holding the keys down, turn on the keyboard (you may need to use two hands or an assistant to complete this task). You will see the Pairing and Power indicator LED lights turn on meaning the keyboard has entered DFU mode.
- Tap “SELECT DEVICE” and locate “dfu 52832 Keyboard”.
- Select “UPLOAD” and the update process will begin.
- The popup “DFU Upload Complete” will appear if the process is successful.
- Once the update has been complete, restart your computer, turn the keyboard off and on, log in to your computer again and complete the pairing process once more.
We hope this information helps!

And yet again, all comments have been removed for like the forth time I started to watch this KB article. Is there a changelog for the firmware versions?
Thank you for choosing Satechi.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We can confirm that there is no changelog for the firmware as this has been the one and only firmware update release for this keyboard. If you are experiencing issues with your keyboard, please submit a support request ticket by contacting us using the following link: (https://satechi.net/pages/contact-us). Feel free to let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
same i cant access DFU mode pressing these keys!!! I can see the keyboard by turning on bluetooth pairing but can't connect to transfer. AUS keyboard.
In Windows i have to unconnect and reconnect every Time i Boot or Restart.
No Login .
My Compact Keyboard Backlit from Satechi was unable to connect to OSX BigSur until i deactivated AirDrop..........
But it was the Filter Contacts Only, if set to Everybody, the Keyboard works with AirDrop On !
That beeing said, the Apple Trackpad worked, as well as the cheap Keyboard from Trust, cause the Keyboard was Connected with a Number, and Trackpad is Apple ;-)
But the Satechi connects without a number, and is not Apple ;-)
Interesting, after stopped working in OSX, it now works in Windows again ???????
And i can not Upload Firmware as Justin noted.
Also on Android you have to select zip and then check Application only ?
Otherwise it gives a Distribution Packet Error
Then it gave a GATT Error
Is the Firmware for QWERTZ Germany Keyboard also ?
Why does it Show Battery Life in Windows and not in OSX ?
Make an Update that it can Connect with a Number !
Then it is Compatibel to FileVault at Login ! And AirDrop with Filter Contact only ON
After the firmware update my keyboard show 100% battery til it is dead. No support answers from this company at all. This was the last time I purchased something from satechi ever. Do not update this firmware if your keyboard work...
