Before moving forward, have you tried completing an SMC reset? This helps to reset the SMC (System Management Controller) which, then, resets the MacBook's USB-C ports that connect to any power consumption devices (such as your Type-C Adapter). To do this, please remove the adapter from the MacBook and complete the following:
Mac notebook computers with the T2 chip
Try this first:
- Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
- After your Mac shuts down, press and hold its power button for 10 seconds.
- Release the power button, then wait a few seconds.
- Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
- Choose Apple menu > Shut Down.
- After your Mac shuts down, press and hold the right Shift key, the left Option key, and the left Control key for 7 seconds. Then keep holding those keys while you press and hold the power button for another 7 seconds.
- Release all three keys and the power button, then wait a few seconds.
- Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.
Reconnect the Type-C Adapter to the MacBook.
