The Virtual keyboard button can be used only with iOS devices. The remote uses the same BT profile as a wireless keyboard which disables the on-screen keyboard on the iPhone and iPad. The button on the remote allows users to pull up the keyboard while the remote is still paired. Unfortunately, this button is not functional with macOS, as well, and cannot be customized.
