While the M1 and M2 MacBooks natively support just one external display, the M1 Mac Mini (or M1 Mac Studio) does natively support up to two external displays—one via the HDMI port and a second via USB-C.
M1 models of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro support only one external display.
Supported Dual Monitor Setup
1st Display: The Dock's Thunderbolt 4 Port > HDMI or USB-C display
2nd Display: The Mac Mini's HDMI port > to an HDMI or USB-C display
