This Quick Start Guide covers setup of the Satechi Stand & Hub for Mac Mini / Studio with NVMe SSD Enclosure (ST-GMMSHS): installing an NVMe SSD in the enclosure, placing and connecting the stand to your Mac Mini or Mac Studio, and using the USB-C, USB-A, audio, and card reader ports.

Setup steps:

Step 1: Remove SSD enclosure cover on the bottom of the stand.

Step 2: To install, insert the SSD at a slight angle and it should click into place.

Important: Not compatible with SSDs with Heat-Sinks.

Step 3: Use the included screwdriver and screw to secure the SSD. To avoid stripping the screw, please do not overtighten.

Step 4: Put the enclosure cover back on and flip stand back over.

Step 5: Place the stand on a flat surface and use its USB-C cable to connect to your Mac Mini.

Supports Mac Mini (M1, 2020 and newer) and Mac Studio (2022). Does not support 2018 & earlier Mac Mini models

Ports and Connectors:

Step 6: Use the USB-C port for data transfer – up to 10 Gbps.

Does not support charging or CD readers, including Apple SuperDrive

Step 7: Use the right USB-A port for data transfer – up to 10 Gbps.

Does not support charging or CD readers, including Apple SuperDrive

Step 8: Use two USB-A ports for data transfer – up to 5 Gbps.

Does not support charging or CD readers, including Apple SuperDrive

Step 9: Connect headphones to the audio jack port.

Step 10: Insert SD and MicroSD cards into the card reader slots. Supports simultaneous reading and writing of both cards.

Note: If the SSD is new and not discovered, it may need to be formatted to be read by macOS. To reformat, open Disk Utility > Select the SSD installed > Erase > then select APFS > and then reformat the drive by erasing it.
