Will you be adding a hard drive?
A: We had considered it during early prototype testing stages but the heat of the stand with the hard drive was an issue which would probably require an internal fan, and the additive of a drive and the port hubs would require the use of more than one USB-C ports on the back. Our developers are always working to improve on our current designs for possible updated future releases.
As for connecting external hard drives, the hub stand will support no more than one external hard drive at a time due to the limited USB power wattage output.
Is the 3.5mm headphone jack only for audio output?
A: The aux port on the front will support mic input as well as output. For example, if you had your headphones plugged in and wanted to take a call, the mic would work. You just need to change the input and output audio settings in (System Settings -> Sound -> Input or Output); however, the volume control is not supported with inline controls on headphones. Will this fit underneath the Satechi Aluminum Monitor Stand?
A: We can confirm that the height of the Mac Mini and hub is too tall for it to fit underneath the Aluminum Monitor Stand. If you would like to place this underneath a stand, please make sure the stand has a minimum height of 5cm (1.8 inches) or more for the hub and Mac Mini to fit properly.
Does the hub stand include its own power supply?
A: We can confirm that the TYPE-C ALUMINUM STAND & HUB FOR MAC MINI is actually powered by connecting to the Mac Mini itself via the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port, and does not require a power supply or adapter for it to receive power.
Does the Mac Mini Hub Stand come in a different color?
A: We can confirm that the TYPE-C ALUMINUM STAND & HUB FOR MAC MINI was specifically designed for the new Mac Mini (2018-2019), which was only manufactured by Apple in the Space Grey color. Because of this, we only manufactured a single colored hub to match the color of this machine.
Can I use this with the Apple SuperDrive?
A. The Apple SuperDrive is not compatible with non-Apple adapters and must be connected directly to your computer or use a direct USB-A-to-USB-C adapter.
Will this stand/hub fit my older Mac Mini?
A: Unfortunately, the Mac Mini Hub Stand is only compatible with the Mac Mini from 2018 and newer that include four Thunderbolt 3 ports. The hub stand has a built-in Type-C connector that is the perfect length and in the perfect position to occupy one of the USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports on the rear of the Mac Mini.
