This Quick Start Guide covers getting started with the Satechi Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard (ST-BTSX3M Space Gray, ST-BTSX3S Silver): turning it on, pairing up to 4 Bluetooth devices, charging, and using wired mode.

How to set up the Satechi Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard

1. To turn the keyboard on, move the ON/OFF Switch on the top of the device to the "on" position. The power indicator turns green for 3 seconds, and then turns off.

   

2. Press and hold one of Bluetooth keys for 3 seconds to assign a device to it. White light-emitting diode (LED) Light should start blinking.

   

3. On the host device, look for "Slim X3 Keyboard" in the Bluetooth setting, choose "Connect" to pair. The white LED will stop blinking, indicating a successful pairing.
4. Repeat process for each Bluetooth key to add up to 4 Bluetooth devices.

How to switch devices on the Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard

• Quickly switch between Bluetooth keys 1, 2, 3 and 4 to switch devices.
• Wired mode: press Fn + Eject to activate the wired mode when USB-C (Universal Serial Bus Type-C) cable is connected. The power LED light turns green. Press the 1~4 Bluetooth key button to switch back to Bluetooth mode.

  

Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard ports and controls

• ON/OFF Switch: on the top of the device.
• Bluetooth Device Keys with LED Indicator: 1, 2, 3 and 4.
• Fn Key
• Media / Function Keys: press Fn + the Fn Lock key (Esc) to swap between Media keys and F-Keys (F1 ~ F15). The white LED light gets brighter indicating Fn lock is enabled.

  

• USB-C Charging Port
• Backlight: there are 10 backlight levels. You can change the backlight levels at any time with the Increase Keyboard Backlight and Decrease Keyboard Backlight keys.

How to charge the Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard

• When the battery is low, the power indicator will flash green. Connect the keyboard to a computer, USB-C wall adapter, or other powered USB-C port using the included USB-C charging cable.

  

• Charge the keyboard for 2 to 3 hours, or until the red charging LED light turns green. The keyboard can be used either wired or wirelessly while charging.

Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard LED indicator meanings

• Low Battery: flashes green when it's low battery.
• Charging: turns red when it's charging.
• Fully Charged: turns green and stays green.
• Fn Lock LED Indicator: the white LED light gets brighter indicating Fn lock is enabled.

Important notes for the Slim X3 Bluetooth Backlit Keyboard

• After 30 minutes non-operation, the keyboard will go to sleep mode to preserve battery. Please press any key to wake up, and the keyboard will automatically connect.

  

• Backlight turns off when battery is low. Backlight will dim after 1 min. of inactivity and it will turn off after 3 min. inactivity. Click any key to wake keyboard.
• The keyboard layout function is based on iOS and macOS default settings. The output might differ for different operating system (OS).
• To pair with Windows 10, you need to pair through Control Panel and not Bluetooth Settings.
