Troubleshooting Satechi Products After macOS or Windows Updates
Why Do Issues Happen After OS Updates?
Major OS updates can reset USB drivers, Bluetooth pairing, and display settings. Your Satechi products may need reconfiguration or driver updates. The good news: most issues are fixable in minutes.
Common Issues After macOS Updates
USB devices not recognized (hubs, drives, keyboards)
Quick fix: Unplug the hub or adapter, wait 10 seconds, and reconnect. The USB bus often resets automatically.
Full reset: Shut down your Mac completely (not sleep). Unplug all USB devices from your hub. Turn on your Mac. Once fully booted, plug devices back in one at a time.
Still not working? Check if your hub needs a firmware update at support.satechi.com. Download the latest version and install.
Displays not working or showing as "unknown display"
Step 1: Unplug the display cable from your hub for 5 seconds and reconnect.
Step 2: Open System Settings > Displays. Click "Detect Displays" (if available).
Step 3: Check System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording. InstantView may have lost permission after the update. Disable and re-enable it.
Step 4: Reinstall InstantView. Visit support.satechi.com, download the latest version for your product, and run the installer again.
Step 5: Restart your Mac.
Bluetooth devices dropping connection (wireless keyboards, mice)
Step 1: Open System Settings > Bluetooth. Find your Satechi wireless device and click the X to remove it.
Step 2: Hold the reset button on your device (check your manual for location) for 5 to 10 seconds.
Step 3: In System Settings > Bluetooth, re-pair your device. Look for it in the list and select "Connect."
Step 4: Test the connection. If it drops again, move closer to your Mac temporarily to rule out signal issues.
