This Quick Start Guide covers setup of the Satechi ExtendView™ USB4 Dual HDMI Multiport Adapter (ST-PU4EVC): connecting to your computer, connecting up to two displays, charging your laptop, connecting USB devices, and storing the host cable.
Setup steps:
Step 1: Connect to Your Computer
- Connect the attached USB4 host cable to a USB-C port on your computer.
- For dual displays, use a port that supports USB4 (40Gbps or higher), such as a Thunderbolt port.
- The LED turns white when the adapter powers on.
Step 2: Connect Up to Two Displays (Up to 4K/60Hz)
- Connect an HDMI cable from each HDMI port to a monitor.
- Each HDMI port supports up to 4K at 60Hz (HDMI 2.0).
- Dual extended display needs a computer that supports USB4 (40Gbps or higher). On USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode only, one display works from either HDMI port.
- No drivers or apps to install.
Step 3: Charge Your Laptop (140W Max Input)
- Connect a USB-C power adapter (not included) to the USB-C PD port to charge your laptop through the adapter.
- Supports up to 140W input. About 15W powers the adapter, so your laptop receives up to about 125W.
- For the highest charging speed, your host device, power adapter, and charging cable must support USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 or higher. Charging speeds vary by power adapter.
Step 4: Connect USB Devices (Up to 10Gbps)
- Connect up to four USB devices: two USB-A and two USB-C, each up to 10Gbps.
- The USB-C data ports are for data transfer only and do not support video output.
- Apple USB SuperDrive is not compatible with this adapter.
Store the Host Cable (Optional)
When not in use, store the USB-C connector in the built-in cable slot to keep cables out of the way.
Important Notes:
- For dual display support, your computer must support USB4 (40Gbps or higher) via its USB-C port. Check your device specs if you're unsure.
- Mac computers with a base M1 or M2 chip support one external display.
- The M3 base model needs to be used in clamshell mode (lid closed) to support dual displays.
- iPad and iPhone are not supported for dual extended display. A single display may work depending on your device and OS version.
- For the highest charging speed, your host device, power adapter, and charging cable must support USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.1 or higher. Charging speeds may vary based on the power adapter used.
- The USB-C data ports are for data transfer only and do not support video or display output. Use the HDMI ports to connect your monitors.
- Apple USB SuperDrive is not compatible with this adapter.
- Keep away from water and liquids. This adapter is not water-resistant. Exposure to moisture may cause permanent damage.
Single & Dual Display Support
Each external display supports up to 4K/60Hz
