The 8K Ultra High Speed HDMI Cable is fully backward compatible and supports 5K, 4K, 1440p, and 1080p in addition to 8K. Its maximum refresh rate is 60Hz, even if your display or host device can go higher (such as 120Hz or 144Hz). On macOS devices like the MacBook Pro or iPad Pro, output over HDMI is capped at 4K at 60Hz. That is an Apple design limit: Macs only reach 5K or 6K through Thunderbolt, not through HDMI.
