The 3.5mm plastic piece on the hub is not an audio port. It plugs into the headphone jack to hold the hub securely on an M1 Pro/Max MacBook and is not used on other MacBook models. For sound, select the hub as your audio output:

1. Open System Settings.
2. Select Sound, then Output.
3. Choose General USB Audio Device.
