Base M1 and M2 MacBook Air and Pro models support only one external display. This is a limitation of the Thunderbolt/USB4 ports on those Macs, not the dock; all other functions, including charging, still work.
Dual displays are supported on Intel-based MacBooks and Apple M1 Pro/Max models. The M1 Mac Mini and Mac Studio also natively support two displays: one from the dock's Thunderbolt 4 port and a second from the Mac's own HDMI port. For dual display on a base M1 or M2 MacBook, use a Satechi USB-C Multimedia Adapter M1 or USB-C Multiport MX Adapter with the free Silicon Motion InstantView software.
