If a device is not charging, or charges slowly, on the Satechi 108W Pro USB-C PD Desktop Charger (ST-TC108WM), the port you picked and the cable you used are the usual reasons. The 108W Pro USB-C PD Desktop Charger has a total output of 108W split across four ports, so each port has its own limit and the ports share that total. There is no internal battery, so the charger only works while it is plugged into an outlet. Work through the steps below in order.
Steps to try
- Check that the power cord is firmly seated in the 2-pin connector on the back of the charger and in the wall outlet. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it is live.
- Look for the LED indicator, which lights up when the charger is in use. If there is no light, plug the charger into a different wall outlet and avoid extension cords and surge protectors.
- Connect just one device to the first USB-C Power Delivery (PD) port, with nothing else plugged in. This rules out shared power and overcurrent protection.
- Match the port to the device. The first USB-C PD port delivers up to 90W for a laptop or tablet, the second USB-C PD port delivers up to 18W for a phone or tablet, and the two USB-A ports share 12W between them.
- Remember that the ports share the 108W total, so charging several devices at once lowers the power available to each one.
- Swap in a certified charging cable rated for the wattage you need, since cables are sold separately with this charger. A high-power USB-C cable needs to be E-marked to carry the full output. To fast charge an iPhone with a Lightning port, use an Apple MFi-Certified USB-C to Lightning cable.
- Confirm the device you are charging supports USB-C Power Delivery.
- Power cycle the charger. Unplug it for 30 seconds, plug it back in, then reconnect your device.
- Check the ports for dust or debris, and make sure the cable clicks fully into place.
- Test the same cable and device on each port in turn, then test the device with a different charger. That shows whether one port, the cable, or the device is the part at fault.
