If your phone is not charging on the wireless pad of the Dock5 Multi-Device Charging Station (ST-WCS5PM), the usual causes are wall power, phone position on the pad, or the case on your phone. The Qi wireless charging pad on the Dock5 Multi-Device Charging Station has no magnetic alignment, so the phone has to be centered by hand, and its LED lights up when a device is actually charging.
How to fix wireless charging on the Dock5 Multi-Device Charging Station
- Connect the power cord to the Dock5 Multi-Device Charging Station and plug it into a wall outlet. The wireless pad only works when the station has wall power.
- Try a different wall outlet to rule out a dead outlet or a switched off power strip.
- Confirm your phone supports Qi wireless charging. The pad works with Qi-enabled Android phones and with MagSafe-capable iPhones, but the phone itself has to support wireless charging.
- Center your phone on the charging pad. There is no magnetic alignment to pull the phone into position, so an off center phone will not charge.
- Watch the LED on the pad. It illuminates when a device is charging, which tells you quickly whether the phone is picking up power.
- If the LED blinks green, a foreign object has been detected. Reposition your phone and remove anything else sitting on the pad, such as keys or coins.
- Wipe the charging area with a clean, slightly damp cloth to clear away debris, then try again.
- Remove your phone case and retry. Most cases work fine, but metal cases, cases with magnetic clips, and cases thicker than 3 mm block wireless charging.
- Place a different Qi device on the pad, such as a Qi earbud case, to see whether the problem follows the phone or stays with the pad.
- Set the right expectation on speed. The pad charges wirelessly but has no magnetic alignment and does not provide full 15W MagSafe charging.
- For faster charging, plug your phone into one of the two USB-C Power Delivery (PD) ports, which deliver up to 20W each. Charging cables are sold separately, and a certified cable is recommended.
