Product Overview
Turns one USB-C port into a travel dock: 4K HDMI or 1080p VGA video, Gigabit Ethernet, two USB-A 3.0 ports, a USB-C data port, SD and Micro SD card readers, and up to 100W of pass-through charging. The short 4.5 in cable slides in and out of the body so nothing extra goes in your bag, and a 1 m cable is included for when it lives on a desk.
Setup
The USB-C On-the-Go Multiport Adapter is plug-and-play, no drivers or software required.
- Attach a cable: Connect one of the included USB-C cables to the adapter's USB-C Input Port. The 4.5 in / 114 mm cable slides in and out of the adapter for travel, and the 1 m / 3.3 ft cable gives you more reach for desk use.
- Connect to your device: Plug the cable into a USB-C Power Delivery or Thunderbolt 3 port on your computer, tablet or phone.
- Add power if you need it: For pass-through charging, connect a USB-C charger to the adapter's USB-C PD Port. Maximum output is 100W.
- Connect your devices: Connect a display, an Ethernet cable, USB peripherals and memory cards to the adapter's ports.
Ports and Features
Parts labeled diagram of the USB-C On-the-Go Multiport Adapter with 9 labeled components.
1. USB-C PD Port (up to 100W): USB-C Power Delivery port for pass-through charging at up to 100W. It is power only, no data transfer and no video output.
2. USB-C Data Port (5Gbps): USB-C port for drives and peripherals at up to 5 Gbps. It does not support charging or video output.
3. HDMI Video Port (4K@60Hz): HDMI output up to 4K at 60Hz using a direct HDMI cable. Connect one display at a time for full resolution.
4. USB-C Input Port & 1M/3.3FT USB-C Cable: The USB-C port that connects the adapter to your host device, plus the included 1 m / 3.3 ft USB-C cable for using the adapter as a small dock.
5. USB-C Cable 4.5 IN / 114 MM: The short 4.5 in / 114 mm USB-C cable that slides in and out of the adapter body, so it travels with the adapter.
6. 1080P VGA Video Port: VGA output up to 1080p at 60Hz using a direct VGA cable. Handy for older projectors and monitors.
7. Ethernet Port (1 Gigabit): Wired network connection at 10/100/1000 Mbps.
8. SD & Micro SD Card Slots (UHS-I): SD and Micro SD card readers at UHS-I speeds. UHS-II cards are readable, they just read and write at UHS-I speeds.
9. 2X USB-A 3.0 Ports (5Gbps): Two USB-A 3.0 ports for drives and peripherals at up to 5 Gbps. They do not support charging or CD readers, including the Apple USB SuperDrive.
Features
- 4K at 60Hz HDMI or 1080p at 60Hz VGA video output
- Gigabit Ethernet for a wired network connection
- Up to 100W pass-through charging over the USB-C PD port
- One USB-C and two USB-A 3.0 data ports, all at 5 Gbps
- SD and Micro SD card readers at UHS-I speeds
- Short 4.5 in cable slides into the body for travel, 1 m cable included for desk use
Important Limitations
Connected USB devices should not exceed an input current of 900mA. That is the per-port limit, and the adapter draws its power from your host device, so connect one bus-powered device at a time.
USB-C PD port has ~15W power diminishment to power the adapter. A 100W charger leaves roughly 85W for your host device.
USB-C Charging and Data Ports will not support video output. Video only comes out of the HDMI and VGA ports.
HDMI & VGA ports will be limited to 1080p resolution and mirrored when used simultaneously. Connect one display at a time if you want 4K at 60Hz over HDMI.
The USB-A ports do not support charging or CD readers, including the Apple USB SuperDrive. The SuperDrive needs more power than the adapter can supply.
UHS-II cards read and write at UHS-I speeds. The card slots themselves are UHS-I.
