Product Overview

One USB4 connection gives you seven: 8K video over HDMI, 2.5 Gigabit wired networking, 10 Gbps USB-C and USB-A data, a 3.5mm audio jack for headsets, and up to 100W of pass-through charging so your laptop keeps its battery topped up while everything stays plugged in.

Setup

The USB4 Multiport w2.5G Ethernet is plug-and-play, no drivers or software required.

1. Connect to a USB-C Host device: Plug the USB4 connector into the USB-C port on your computer, tablet or phone.

2. Connect your devices: Connect your display, network cable and USB devices to the adapter's ports.

Ports and Features

1. USB4 Connector: The attached USB4 cable that connects the adapter to your host device. It carries data, video and charging power over the one connection.
2. Ethernet Port (2.5Gbps): Wired network connection at up to 2.5 Gbps.
3. Audio Jack 2.0 Port: 3.5mm jack that supports both input and output, so headsets with a microphone work. On macOS you may have to select it manually the first time under System Preferences > Sound > Output/Input as USB PnP Audio Device.
4. USB-C Data Port (10Gbps): USB-C port for drives and peripherals at up to 10 Gbps. It does not support charging, video output, or CD readers including the Apple SuperDrive.
5. USB-C PD & Data Port (up to 100W) (10Gbps): USB-C port that charges your host device at up to 100W and transfers data at up to 10 Gbps. About 15W of the incoming power runs the adapter, and this port does not carry video.
6. USB-A Port (10Gbps): USB-A port for drives and peripherals at up to 10 Gbps. It does not support charging or CD readers, including the Apple SuperDrive.
7. HDMI up to 8K at 60Hz (not on Apple devices): HDMI output up to 8K at 60Hz. Your computer, the cable and the monitor all have to support 8K. macOS is limited to 4K at 60Hz through this port.

Important Limitations

USB-C Charging and Data Ports will not support video output. Video only comes out of the HDMI port.

8K output needs 8K support end to end. The computer, the HDMI cable and the monitor all have to support 8K, and macOS tops out at 4K at 60Hz.

About 15W is used to run the adapter. A 100W charger on the USB-C PD port leaves roughly 85W for your host device.

The data ports do not support charging or CD readers, including the Apple SuperDrive. Use the USB-C PD port when you need to charge.

The audio jack may need to be selected manually on macOS. Go to System Preferences > Sound > Output/Input and choose USB PnP Audio Device.
