If your Satechi 4-Port USB-C Hub with PD (ST-H4CPDM) does not show up when you plug it in, and none of its ports work, the most common causes are a connector that is not fully seated, a host USB-C port that cannot support the hub, or a connected device drawing too much power. The 4-Port USB-C Hub with PD is plug-and-play, so there is no driver or software to install. Work through the steps below in order.
Steps to fix a 4-Port USB-C Hub with PD that is not detected
- Unplug the hub, then plug its USB-C connector back into your computer and make sure it is fully seated. Look at the LED indicator on the top face of the hub. That light comes on when the hub is connected and powered.
- Disconnect everything from the hub's four ports, then connect the hub to your computer on its own. If the hub appears with nothing attached, add your devices back one at a time to find the one causing the problem.
- Try a different USB-C or Thunderbolt port on your computer. For full functionality, the hub needs a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, USB4, or USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C port.
- Check whether your computer sees the hub at all. On a Mac, open System Information and look under USB. On Windows, open Device Manager and look for the hub in the list of USB devices.
- Plug your USB-C charger into the hub's USB-C Power Delivery (PD) port, the one marked with a lightning bolt. That port accepts up to 100W of input and passes up to 75W through to your computer, which gives the hub steady power to work with.
- Confirm that no single device connected to the hub needs more than 5V/2A. Any device that draws more power than that should be plugged into its own power supply instead of relying on the hub.
- Update your operating system, restart the computer, then reconnect the 4-Port USB-C Hub with PD.
- Connect the hub to a different computer. If the hub is not detected on any computer you try, the hub itself is faulty and qualifies for a warranty replacement.
