No, the Satechi USB4 Slim NVMe SSD Enclosure is plug and play and does not need any drivers or software.
If you install a brand new SSD and your computer does not show the drive, format the SSD so your device's operating system can read the drive.
To format the SSD on a Mac:
- Open Finder, then go to Applications and then Utilities.
- Open Disk Utility.
- Select the SSD and click Erase.
- Choose the file system format you want.
- Click Erase to format the drive.
Always eject the SSD from your computer before you unplug the enclosure. Unplugging without ejecting can corrupt or lose files.
