Why do the transfer speeds differ between an M1 Mac and an Intel Mac?
M1 Macs have their entire system on one chip (SoC) whereas Intel has multiple. The number of lanes of traffic for data transfer, or bandwidth, is less on an M1 computer than on an Intel since the functions of the chip are in one unit (GPU, RAM, etc).
