Why does the transfer speed slow down after running it for a while?
After running long and heavy transfers, which occurs during speed tests and gaming, the drives will produce more heat. If the drive and enclosure are sustaining high temperatures during use, it may throttle by limiting performance to cool down and operate safely. Therefore you will find the transfer speeds drop after a while during speed tests or the frame rate of your video game may drop after long gaming periods.
