Before You Start
Satechi Bluetooth keyboards, keypads, and remotes are designed primarily for the Apple ecosystem. They are compatible with many Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices, but not all Windows machines will connect successfully. If pairing fails after following this guide, your specific Windows device may not be supported.
Why You Must Use Control Panel (Not Bluetooth Settings)
Satechi Bluetooth peripherals are classified as "input devices" by Windows. The standard Bluetooth pairing screen in Windows Settings often does not detect them properly. You must pair through Control Panel > Devices and Printers instead.
Step-by-Step Pairing Instructions
Step 1: Open Control Panel
Click the Windows Start button and search for Control Panel. Open it. Do not use the Bluetooth section in Windows Settings.
Step 2: Open Devices and Printers
In Control Panel, click Devices and Printers. If you do not see it, switch the view to "Large icons" or "Small icons" using the dropdown in the top right.
Step 3: Put your Satechi device in pairing mode
Turn on your keyboard, keypad, or remote and activate Bluetooth pairing mode. The LED indicator will flash to confirm it is discoverable. Check your product's quick start guide for the specific pairing button or key combination.
Step 4: Add the device
In the Devices and Printers window, click Add a device in the top left corner. Windows will scan for nearby Bluetooth devices.
Step 5: Select your Satechi device
When your device appears in the list, click on it to select it.
Step 6: Enter the passcode
Windows will display a pairing prompt. Click the text that says "Or try entering a passcode on it" underneath the passcode input box. A randomly generated numeric code will appear on screen. Type this code on your Satechi keyboard or keypad and press Enter on the device itself.
Important: The passcode changes every time. Do not reuse a code from a previous attempt.
Step 7: Confirm pairing
If the pairing is successful, Windows will confirm the device has been added. Your keyboard or keypad should now be functional.
Troubleshooting
Device not appearing in the scan
1. Make sure the device is charged and in pairing mode (LED flashing).
2. Bring the device within 3 feet of your computer.
3. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Windows PC (Settings > Bluetooth & devices > toggle Bluetooth on).
4. Restart your computer and try again.
Passcode not accepted
1. Make sure you are typing the code on the Satechi device, not on your computer's built-in keyboard.
2. Press Enter on the Satechi device after typing the code.
3. If it fails, cancel the pairing and start over from Step 4. A new passcode will be generated.
Device pairs but disconnects
1. Check that your Windows Bluetooth drivers are up to date (Device Manager > Bluetooth > right-click your adapter > Update driver).
2. Remove the device from Devices and Printers, restart your PC, and re-pair.
Some keys do not work as expected
Media keys, function keys, and certain special keys are mapped for macOS and may not function identically on Windows. This is a known limitation of using Apple-optimized peripherals on Windows.
If your device does not connect after following all steps, your specific Windows hardware may not be compatible. Contact our Technical Support team for further assistance.
