Where Is the Print Screen Key on My Satechi Keyboard?
Satechi’s Slim-series keyboards, including the Slim X1, X2, X3, and the wired W1 and W3, are designed primarily for Apple/Mac devices. Since macOS does not use a dedicated Print Screen key, these models do not include one by default.
Even without a Print Screen key, both macOS and Windows offer built-in shortcuts that provide the same functionality.
How to Take Screenshots on a Mac
You can capture your screen using these macOS shortcuts:
• Shift + Command (⌘) + 3 ; Capture the entire screen
• Shift + Command (⌘) + 4 ; Capture a selected area
You can customize these under:
System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts
How to Take Screenshots on Windows
If you’re using a Slim-series keyboard with a Windows device, use:
• Windows + Shift + S ; Open the Snipping Tool to capture a selected portion of the screen
For Other Satechi Keyboard Models
Some Satechi keyboards outside the Slim series may include a dedicated Print Screen key. For detailed information, please refer to the user manual or visit the product page for your specific keyboard model.
Why Is My FN Key Not Working With macOS Shortcuts?
The FN key on Satechi keyboards is not designed to function like the FN or Globe key found on Macs or Apple Magic Keyboards, which is why it will not activate native macOS shortcuts such as emoji search, dictation, language switching, Spotlight, or other system-level commands.
Why the Satechi FN Key Behaves Differently
On Satechi keyboards, the FN key is programmed for internal keyboard functions, including:
• Keyboard reset commands
• Bluetooth or 2.4GHz pairing
• Enabling or disabling Fn Lock
• Switching between internal keyboard modes
Because the FN key is dedicated to these built-in hardware operations, it does not send the same system-level signal that macOS expects when triggering Apple-specific shortcuts.
What the FN Key Can Do on Satechi Keyboards
While it cannot activate native macOS FN/Globe shortcuts, the FN key still works for:
• Accessing the keyboard’s own top-row shortcut icons (F1-F12 behaviors depend on macOS settings)
• Internal operations like resets or pairing
• Toggling Fn Lock when supported
