This Quick Start Guide covers getting started with the Satechi USB-C Multiport MX Adapter (ST-UCMXAM).

How to set up the Satechi USB-C Multiport MX Adapter

SiliconMotion software must be installed for both High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) ports to function.

1. Download the InstantView app using link: https://satechi.net/support/downloads
2. Select your host device operating system.
3. Download the latest driver directly from the SiliconMotion website.
4. Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen installation assistant.
5. On macOS: drag the InstantView application into the Applications folder.
6. On macOS: find the InstantView app in your Applications folder and open the app.
7. On macOS: upon opening, macOS will prompt you to allow the downloaded application. Click "Open".
8. Once the application has been opened, connect the adapter to a USB-C (Universal Serial Bus Type-C) port on your host device.

   

9. On macOS: upon initial setup, InstantView will ask for permission under Privacy & Security in Settings. Allow Files and Folders. The Files and Folders permission is necessary for the adapter to access the InstantView app files.
10. On macOS: allow Screen Recording. The Screen Recording permission is needed to activate the secondary screen. For clarification, the application or adapter will not record your screen.
11. On macOS: once given permission, restart the app to activate new settings and permissions.
12. Connect two HDMI-enabled monitors for dual 4K HDMI display output: one to the HDMI Video Port (4K@60Hz) and one to the HDMI Video Port (4K@30Hz). One HDMI port supports up to 60Hz, the other 30Hz.

    

13. Use the USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charging port to power your device, up to 85W output. About 15W of power is used for operation. The USB-C charging port does not support video or data.

    

14. Connect a Registered Jack 45 (RJ45) network cable to the adapter's Gigabit Ethernet port.

    

15. Use the USB-C Data Port and the two USB-A (Universal Serial Bus Type-A) 3.0 ports for data transfer and file backup, up to 5 Gbps each. These ports do not support charging or compact disc (CD) readers, including the Apple SuperDrive. The USB-C Data Port does not support video output.

    

16. Insert microSD or SD cards into the card reader slots.

• USB-C PD Port (100W Input)(85W Output Max): the USB-C charging port. Does not support video or data. About 15W of power is used for operation.

• Secure Digital (SD) & MicroSD Card Reader (UHS-I, short for Ultra High Speed I, short for Ultra High Speed I)
• Audio Jack Port
• 2X USB-A 3.0 Ports (5 Gbps): do not support charging or CD readers, including the Apple SuperDrive.
• Ethernet Port (1 Gigabit): uses an RJ45 network cable.
• HDMI Video Port (4K@30Hz): this HDMI video port requires software to use (the InstantView app).

Important notes for the USB-C Multiport MX Adapter

• InstantView App by SiliconMotion must be installed for both HDMI ports to function.
• When connecting a secondary HDMI monitor, there will be an InstantView pop-up. To disable this pop-up from appearing every time, right-click on the App icon in the menu bar and select "No Pop-up App on Plugin".
