This article explains how to set up the OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter | ST-POTG5S ST-POTG5B ST-POTG5Y ST-POTG5P, use each of its ports, read the LED indicator, and mount the OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter with the included 3M Adhesive Ring. The OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter is a compact hub with a built-in USB-C host cable, a USB-C PD charging port, an HDMI port, a USB-C data port, a USB-A data port, and an SD card reader.
Setup
Step 1: Connect the adapter to your host device
Plug the built-in braided USB-C cable into a USB-C port on your host device. When the connection is successful, the LED indicator on the adapter turns solid white, confirming the adapter is connected and powered.
Step 2: Charge your host device with USB-C PD (up to 60W)
Connect a USB-C charging cable to the USB-C PD port on the adapter to charge your host device while using the adapter. The USB-C PD port supports up to 60W of charging input. The USB-C PD port does not support data transfers or video output, and it is not compatible with CD/DVD drives or the Apple USB SuperDrive.
Step 3: Connect an external display with HDMI (up to 4K/60Hz)
Connect an HDMI cable from the adapter's HDMI port to an HDMI-equipped display. The HDMI port supports video output up to 4K resolution at 60Hz. The HDMI port only supports direct HDMI connections; it does not support HDMI adapters or dongles in between.
Step 4: Connect USB-C devices (up to 5Gbps)
Connect a USB-C device to the adapter's USB-C data port for high-speed data transfers of up to 5Gbps. The USB-C data port does not support video output.
Step 5: Connect USB-A devices (up to 5Gbps)
Connect a USB-A peripheral or storage device to the adapter's USB-A data port for data transfers of up to 5Gbps. The USB-A data port is not compatible with the Apple USB SuperDrive, CD readers, or DVD drives.
Step 6: Insert an SD card (up to 104MB/s)
Insert the SD card into the adapter's SD card reader with the pins facing down and the label facing up. Inserting the SD card in the wrong orientation may damage the card or the reader. The SD card reader supports UHS-I read and write speeds of up to 104MB/s.
Step 7: Wrap and secure the cable for travel
- Coil the built-in USB-C cable into the bottom groove of the adapter, following the circular path.
- Push the USB-C connector into the designated clips on the adapter to lock the cable in place.
Confirm the cable sits flush against the adapter and the connector is held firmly, so the cable does not come loose during travel.
Optional: Mount the adapter with the 3M Adhesive Ring
The 3M Adhesive Ring lets you mount the OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter to a surface using its magnetic base. Placement with the 3M Adhesive Ring is permanent, so plan the location before applying the ring.
Clean the surface where you will place the 3M Adhesive Ring.
Check that the built-in USB-C cable comfortably reaches your device's port. Adjust the placement of the 3M Adhesive Ring if needed before continuing, since the ring is permanent once applied.
Remove the protective film from the 3M Adhesive Ring to expose the adhesive, then press the 3M Adhesive Ring firmly onto a clean, flat surface. Avoid curved or textured surfaces.
- Attach the OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter to the 3M Adhesive Ring using the adapter's magnetic base, then connect your devices.
The magnetic base on the OntheGo™ 5-in-1 Multiport Adapter does not provide wireless charging; it is used only for mounting.
