This User Manual covers setup, connectivity modes, keyboard shortcuts, battery care, and troubleshooting for the Satechi Slim EX1 Wireless Keyboard (ST-KEX1C-EN / ST-KEX1S-EN). The Slim EX1 is an ultra-slim wireless keyboard that supports Bluetooth multi-device pairing and wired USB-C mode, and is compatible with Mac, Windows, and iPad.

Setup and First Use
- Before first use, fully charge the Slim EX1 keyboard using the included USB-C cable. Connect it to any USB-A or USB-C power source. The status LED will illuminate while charging.
- Turn on the keyboard using the power switch on the top edge.
- Select your connectivity mode (Bluetooth or Wired) using the keyboard shortcuts below.
Connectivity Modes
Bluetooth Mode (Wireless)
The Slim EX1 supports pairing with up to three Bluetooth devices simultaneously on channels BT1, BT2, and BT3.
- Press FN + Q to activate Bluetooth channel 1 (BT1). The LED flashes to indicate pairing mode.
- On your device, open Bluetooth settings and select "Satechi Slim EX1" from the device list.
- Repeat with FN + W for BT2 and FN + E for BT3 to pair additional devices.
- To switch between paired devices, simply press FN + Q, W, or E.
Wired USB-C Mode
Press FN + R to switch to wired mode. Connect the USB-C cable from the keyboard to your computer. No drivers are required on macOS or Windows.
Mac and Windows Compatibility
The Slim EX1 Wireless Keyboard supports both Mac and Windows layouts. Toggle between operating systems using the keyboard's OS switch (check the physical switch on the underside of the keyboard or refer to the OS function keys). Mac mode maps Command and Option keys to their standard macOS positions. Windows mode maps the Windows key correctly for PC use.
LED Status Indicators
- Flashing LED — Pairing mode is active on the selected Bluetooth channel.
- Solid LED — Keyboard is connected and active.
- Red LED — Battery is low. Charge the keyboard using the included USB-C cable.
- LED off (power on) — Connected and operating normally.
Charging the Keyboard
Use the included USB-C cable to charge the Slim EX1. Connect to any standard USB-A or USB-C power adapter. The keyboard can be used in wired mode while charging. A full charge provides extended wireless usage — avoid depleting the battery completely before recharging.
Troubleshooting
- Keyboard not pairing — Ensure the power switch is on. Press FN + Q/W/E to enter pairing mode. On your device, remove any existing "Satechi Slim EX1" pairing and start fresh. Move the keyboard closer to the host device.
- Keyboard disconnects frequently — Check battery level (red LED indicates low battery). Charge the keyboard fully. Reduce interference from other Bluetooth devices nearby.
- Keys not responding correctly on Mac — Confirm the OS switch is set to Mac mode. In macOS System Preferences, go to Keyboard and run the keyboard setup assistant if needed.
- Wired mode not working — Press FN + R to activate wired mode. Ensure the USB-C cable supports data transfer (not a charge-only cable). Try a different USB-C port on your computer.
- Keyboard not charging — Ensure the power switch is on when charging. Try a different USB-C cable and power adapter.

- Do not expose to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Do not disassemble or attempt to repair the keyboard.
