If the Ethernet connection is not working on a Mac, resetting the network service usually fixes it:
- Disconnect the adapter from your computer.
- Open System Settings (or System Preferences) and go to Network.
- Select "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" and remove it using the minus ("-") button.
- Plug the adapter back into your computer.
- Add "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" back using the plus ("+") button.
- Open the "Advanced" settings for that connection.
- Click "Renew DHCP Lease."
- Click "OK" and check the connection. "USB 10/100/1000 LAN" should now show as connected.
