If your solid state drive (SSD) is not reaching its advertised speed in the Satechi USB4 NVMe SSD Pro Enclosure, that is normal. The speeds listed for an NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) SSD come from testing the drive directly inside a computer through an M.2 slot. An external enclosure connects over USB, which works differently and can be slower.

To get the best performance

1. Use the USB4 cable that came with the enclosure.
2. Plug it into a USB4 or Thunderbolt 3, 4, or 5 port on your computer.

You can also try

• Testing with a different SSD or a different USB-C cable that supports USB4 or Thunderbolt 4.
• Connecting to another Mac, ideally one with Thunderbolt 4 or Thunderbolt 5 ports.

Finally, make sure your Mac is fully updated. Then unplug all USB-C devices and restart the Mac.
