If your Mac or PC does not recognize a newly installed SSD in the Stand & Hub for Mac Mini / Studio with NVMe SSD Enclosure, the drive most likely needs to be formatted first.
On macOS:
- Open Finder, then your Applications folder.
- Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
- Under External, select the SSD.
- Click Erase at the top.
- Choose a format: APFS for Apple devices, or ExFAT for use with both Apple and Windows.
On Windows 10 or 11:
- Open File Explorer and go to This PC.
- Right-click the drive and choose Format.
- Choose a file system (ExFAT for cross-platform use) and start the format.
If the drive still does not appear after formatting, please contact Satechi Support.
