If your 4 Port USB-C Hub (ST-UC4PHM) is not being detected and none of its ports seem to work, the connection to your computer is usually the cause. Reseat the hub, try another port, and confirm your setup with the steps below.
Steps to fix a 4 Port USB-C Hub that is not detected
- Reseat the connector. Unplug the 4 Port USB-C Hub and plug its built-in USB-C connector firmly back into your computer so it is fully seated.
- Try a different port. Move the hub to another USB-C or Thunderbolt port on your computer, in case the first port is the problem.
- Know what this hub does. The 4 Port USB-C Hub is a data-only hub. Its four USB-C ports transfer data at up to 5 Gbps but do not output video and do not charge devices, so a blank monitor or a phone that will not charge through the hub is expected behavior, not a fault.
- Check whether your computer sees the hub. On a Mac, open System Information and look under USB. On Windows, open Device Manager. If the 4 Port USB-C Hub appears there, the hub is working and the problem is with a specific accessory or port.
- Test your accessories one at a time. Plug your USB-C drive, keyboard, or other accessory directly into the computer to confirm the accessory works, then reconnect it through the hub.
- If you are connecting a phone or tablet, make sure it supports USB On-The-Go (OTG). The 4 Port USB-C Hub only works with phones and tablets that support On-The-Go, which lets the device act as a host for USB accessories.
- Disconnect and reconnect the hub, then try it on a different computer. This shows whether the problem is with the hub or with the original computer or its port.
