If your monitor shows no picture when it is connected through the Satechi USB-C Snap Hub (ST-HUSNS, ST-HUSNB, ST-HUSNY, and ST-HUSNP), the cause is usually the port you used or how the hub is seated on your laptop. Video on the USB-C Snap Hub comes only from the HDMI port, which supports up to 4K at 60Hz, and the USB-C Power Delivery (PD) and USB-C data ports cannot drive a display at all. Work through the steps below in order.

Steps to try

1. Move your monitor cable to the HDMI port on the USB-C Snap Hub if it is plugged into either USB-C port. Neither USB-C port carries video.
2. Use a standard HDMI to HDMI cable straight from the hub to the display. The HDMI port supports direct HDMI connections only.
3. Check that the USB-C Snap Hub is fully snapped on. It needs two adjacent USB-C ports on the same side of the laptop, and it should be pressed straight in until it clicks into place. The white LED indicator turns on once the hub is connected and powered.
4. Remove the hub by gripping the body of the USB-C Snap Hub, not the laptop, then reattach it and check the display again.
5. Try a different HDMI cable, and connect the monitor directly to your laptop to confirm the monitor and cable both work.
6. On a Mac, open System Settings, go to Displays, then hold the Option key and click Detect Displays. Check whether the arrangement is set the way you want, since Extend and Mirror behave differently.
7. Confirm your Mac supports the display setup you are trying to build. The USB-C Snap Hub drives one external display through HDMI, and dual external displays are not supported. Base M1, M2, and MacBook Neo models also support only one external display, and M3 Macs support two displays only in clamshell mode with the lid closed.
8. Install any pending operating system updates, then reconnect the USB-C Snap Hub. The hub is plug and play, so there are no drivers to install.
9. Test the USB-C Snap Hub on another laptop that has two adjacent USB-C ports. If the display works there, the original laptop or its ports are the problem. If no display works on any laptop, the hub itself is at fault.
