The OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable is a USB-C to USB-C cable that supports USB Power Delivery (PD) charging up to 60W, and its connectors sit under protective caps and slide down into the housing while you wear the cable. Work through the steps below in order.
Steps to try
- Remove the protective caps from both USB-C connectors. The caps cover the connectors while the OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable is worn as a lanyard, and charging will not start with a cap still on.
- Slide each connector housing upward until the USB-C plug is fully exposed. The connector travels vertically along its track, so do not push it in at an angle or force it back down, as that can damage the connector base.
- Plug one USB-C end into your phone and the other end into a USB-C power adapter, laptop, or power bank. Line the connector up with the port and insert it gently rather than forcing it.
- Confirm your phone has a USB-C port. iPhone 15 and later use USB-C. Earlier iPhone models with a Lightning port need a Lightning to USB-C adapter for charging.
- Check that your charger supports USB Power Delivery (PD). The OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable charges at up to 60W, but both the charger and the device have to support Power Delivery to reach that speed. Without Power Delivery on both ends, the cable still charges, just at a slower standard USB-C rate.
- If charging is slower than you expect on a laptop, remember the cable is rated for up to 60W, so a laptop that asks for more power than that will charge more slowly.
- Try a different USB-C charger and a different wall outlet to rule out the power source.
- Test the OntheGo USB-C Lanyard Cable with another USB-C device. If that device charges, the original phone or charger is the problem.
- Inspect the braided cable and both connectors for damage or debris in the plugs. Stop using the cable if either connector is bent, cracked, or loose.
