Steps to try

2. Use a direct HDMI to HDMI cable. Video converter cables such as HDMI to DisplayPort are not recommended, because they can reduce quality and cause connection problems.

7. On a Mac, open System Settings, go to Displays, then hold the Option key and click Detect Displays. Check whether the layout is set to Extend or Mirror, since the two behave differently.

9. Connect the 6-in-1 USB-C Slim Multiport Adapter to a different computer with a USB-C port that supports video. If the display works there, the original computer or its port is the problem. If no display works on any computer, the adapter itself is at fault.
