If your Satechi C1 USB-C Wired Mouse (ST-AWUCMM) does nothing after you plug it in, the port or the surface under the mouse is usually the cause. The C1 USB-C Wired Mouse is wired and plug and play, so there is no battery to charge, no Bluetooth pairing, and no drivers or software to install. It needs a USB-C port on your computer, and its built-in cable is 1.5 meters long. Work through the steps below in order.

Steps to try

1. Unplug the built-in USB-C cable and plug it back in, pushing the connector in until it is fully seated.
2. Try a different USB-C port on your computer. The C1 USB-C Wired Mouse requires a USB-C port.
3. Turn the mouse over and press the DPI adjustment button on the bottom. The LED indicator changes color to show the current level, with red for 800 DPI, blue for 1200 DPI, green for 2400 DPI, and purple for 3200 DPI.
4. Restart your computer with the mouse connected, and install any pending operating system updates.
5. Check whether your computer lists the mouse. On a Mac, look in System Settings. On Windows, open Device Manager.
6. If the pointer moves erratically or not at all, move the mouse onto a different surface. The optical sensor works on most flat surfaces, but glass and highly reflective surfaces need a mouse pad.
7. Blow out the optical sensor window on the bottom of the mouse with compressed air to clear dust or debris.
8. If clicks or scrolling do not register, test the mouse in more than one application, then check your pointer settings. On macOS, open System Settings, then Mouse, and also check Accessibility and Pointer Control. On Windows, open Settings, then Devices, then Mouse.
9. Plug the C1 USB-C Wired Mouse into a different computer that has a USB-C port. If it works there, the original port or computer is the problem. If it does not work on any computer, the mouse itself is at fault.
