If your device does not recognize the Satechi Mobile XR Hub with microSD Reader (ST-HXRSDM), the most common reason is a phone case that keeps the hub from seating all the way into the USB-C port. The Mobile XR Hub with microSD plugs straight into the device with no extension cable, and it supports a case up to 2.5mm thick. Port cutouts differ from case to case, so a proper fit is not guaranteed on every case. Work through the steps below in order.
Steps to try
- Take your phone out of its case and connect the Mobile XR Hub with microSD directly to the USB-C port. A case thicker than 2.5mm, or one with a narrow port cutout, can stop the hub from seating fully.
- Push the hub straight into the port until it is fully seated, then look for the LED indicator, which turns on once the hub is connected.
- Disconnect the hub, wait a few seconds, and reconnect it.
- Confirm the device you are connecting to has a USB-C port. iPhone models up to the iPhone 14 use a Lightning port and cannot connect to the Mobile XR Hub with microSD directly, and non-Apple Lightning to USB-C adapters are not recommended because they are not certified.
- Unplug anything connected to the hub, then reconnect the hub on its own. Connect only one bus-powered device at a time afterwards, and leave high-power accessories such as printers off the hub, since they draw more power than the hub can supply.
- On a computer, check whether the hub appears at all. On a Mac, open System Information and look under USB. On Windows, open Device Manager.
- Try a different USB-C or Thunderbolt port if you are connecting to a computer.
- Install any pending operating system updates, then reconnect the hub.
- Connect the Mobile XR Hub with microSD to a different device that has a USB-C port. If it is detected there, the original device or its port is the problem. If it is not detected on any device, the hub itself is at fault.
If the problem continues after these steps, submit a support request.
