If the R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote (ST-BTPR1M) is not showing up in your Bluetooth list, it is usually because the remote is not in pairing mode, the battery is low, or the remote is still holding a connection to a device it paired with before. The R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote appears as R1 Presenter in Bluetooth settings, works with Mac and iOS devices from 2012 and newer, and is not compatible with Windows devices. Only the laser pointer works without pairing, so every other button needs a Bluetooth connection first. Work through the steps below in order.
Steps to pair the R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote
- Charge the R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote by connecting the included cable to a powered USB-C port. A flashing red light means the battery is low, and the light turns green when the remote is fully charged.
- Slide the On/Off Switch on the remote to the on position. The LED blinks green three times, then turns off.
- Press and hold the Bluetooth Pairing Button for about 5 seconds, until the LED starts blinking quickly. Fast blinking means the R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote is in pairing mode.
- On your Mac or mobile device, open Bluetooth settings, select R1 Presenter, then choose Connect. Once paired, the LED blinks slowly for about 10 seconds and then turns off.
- If the remote was paired with another device before, forget it in that device's Bluetooth settings, then press and hold the Bluetooth Pairing Button for 5 seconds again. That disconnects the remote from the last device and puts it back into pairing mode for a new connection.
- Check that you are pairing with a Mac or iOS device, since the R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote is not compatible with Windows devices.
- Stay within Bluetooth range while pairing, which is typically about 30 feet or 10 meters, and move other wireless devices away to reduce interference.
- If the remote stops responding during setup, press any button to wake it. The R1 Bluetooth Presentation Remote goes into sleep mode after ten minutes of inactivity.
