If your Slim Wireless Keypad will not connect, the usual causes are a flat battery, the power switch still off, or the keypad not being in Pairing Mode when you look for it in Bluetooth settings. The Slim Wireless Keypad (ST-KSALKPM, ST-KSALKPS) connects over Bluetooth only and it needs a charge before first use.
How to connect your Slim Wireless Keypad
- Charge the keypad for 2 to 3 hours before first use with the included USB-C to USB-C cable. A solid red LED means the keypad is charging, and the red LED turns off when it is fully charged.
- Slide the On/Off switch on top of the keypad to the On position. The switch shows a green label when the keypad is on.
- Press and hold the Connect button for about 5 seconds, until the blue LED begins blinking fast. Fast blinking means the keypad is in Pairing Mode.
- On your Mac, PC, or mobile device, open Bluetooth settings, select "Bluetooth Keypad," and connect. Once the keypad is paired, the LED turns off.
- If the keypad was paired to this device before, remove or forget it in Bluetooth settings first, then put the keypad back into Pairing Mode and pair it again.
- If the keypad is connected but nothing happens when you type, press any key to wake it. The keypad enters sleep mode after about 1 hour of inactivity to preserve battery.
- Do not plug the keypad into your computer expecting a wired connection. The Slim Wireless Keypad cannot be used by plugging directly into your computer, although you can keep using it wirelessly while it charges.
- If the number keys do nothing or produce the wrong characters, make sure Num Lock is enabled.
- Check your keyboard layout under System Settings, Keyboard, then Input Sources. The keypad layout follows iOS and macOS default settings, so output may differ on other operating systems.
- If the keypad keeps dropping the connection, charge it first. A slowly blinking red LED means low battery, and low battery causes disconnections. Then move the keypad closer to your device and reduce interference from other wireless devices nearby.
- Update your operating system, then forget the keypad in Bluetooth settings and pair it again.
