Setup
The Dual USB-C Hub For Surface Pro 9 is plug-and-play, no drivers or software required.
- Connect to your Surface Pro 9: Line the hub's two USB-C connectors up with the two USB-C ports on your Surface Pro 9 and push it on until it sits flush against the edge.
- Connect your devices: Connect your display, drives, peripherals and memory cards to the hub's ports.
Note: The hub is built around the port layout on the Surface Pro 9. It does not fit or work with earlier Surface Pro models.
Ports and Features
Parts labeled diagram of the Dual USB-C Hub For Surface Pro 9 with 7 labeled components.
1. Dual USB-C Connectors: The two USB-C connectors that plug into the pair of USB-C ports on your Surface Pro 9 and hold the hub in place.
2. USB4 Pass-Through Port (40Gbps) (100W Power Delivery) (6K@60Hz Video Output): USB4 port that handles data at up to 40 Gbps, video up to 6K at 60Hz, and up to 100W of pass-through charging for the tablet. When you use it for data or video, power the Surface Pro 9 with its own charger and cable.
3. LED Indicator: Status light that shows the hub is seated and getting power from your Surface Pro 9.
4. USB-C 3.2 Data Port (10Gbps): USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port for drives and peripherals at up to 10 Gbps.
5. USB-A 3.2 Data Port (10Gbps): USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 port for drives and peripherals at up to 10 Gbps.
6. HDMI Port (4K@60Hz): HDMI 2.0 output for a monitor or TV at up to 4K at 60Hz.
7. SD & Micro SD Slots (UHS-I): SD and Micro SD card readers at UHS-I speeds. Only the Micro SD card clicks into place, a full size SD card does not.
Features
- Attaches directly to the two USB-C ports on a Surface Pro 9, no cable needed
- USB4 pass-through port: 40 Gbps data, up to 100W charging and video output on one port
- One display up to 6K at 60Hz, or two displays at 4K and 60Hz using USB4 and HDMI together
- 10 Gbps USB-C and USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 data ports
- SD and Micro SD card readers at UHS-I speeds
Important Limitations
When using the USB4 port for data transfer or video output, connect power to your Surface Pro 9 using the proprietary charger and cable. Keep the tablet on its own charger while you move large files or drive a display.
Eject all external storage before you disconnect the hub. Pulling the hub off with a drive still mounted can corrupt or lose the data on that drive.
Only microSD cards click into place. A regular sized SD card will not click in. That is normal for this slot, not a sign the card is unseated.
The hub is not compatible with Surface Pro models earlier than Surface Pro 9. It is built around the port spacing and layout on the Surface Pro 9.
