If your MacBook does not recognize the Pro Hub Slim (ST-HUCPHSM, ST-HUCPHSS, ST-HUCPHSD) or any of the ports on it, the usual cause is the connectors not seating all the way. The Pro Hub Slim has two fixed USB-C connectors that plug into the pair of USB-C ports on your MacBook at the same time, and both have to be fully inserted for the hub to work. The Pro Hub Slim is plug and play, so there are no drivers or software to install. Work through the steps below.
How to get your MacBook to detect the Pro Hub Slim
- Press the hub in firmly so both USB-C connectors seat fully in the two USB-C ports on your MacBook.
- Look at the LED (light emitting diode) indicator on the Pro Hub Slim. It lights up when the hub is connected and powered.
- Take any case or cover off your MacBook. The Pro Hub Slim is designed to sit flush against the MacBook body, so a case adds thickness around the ports and can stop the connectors from going in all the way.
- If your MacBook has another pair of USB-C ports, unplug the Pro Hub Slim and try that pair instead.
- Confirm your computer is a supported MacBook. The dual USB-C connector is designed specifically for Apple MacBook computers and will not fit computers from other manufacturers. The MacBook Neo (13-inch, A18 Pro, 2026) is not compatible either.
- Check whether macOS sees the hub. Hold the Option key, open the Apple menu, choose System Information, then select USB in the sidebar.
- Unplug everything from the Pro Hub Slim, connect the hub on its own, then add your devices back one at a time. Each device connected to the hub should draw no more than 900mA.
- Update macOS to the latest version.
- Try the Pro Hub Slim on another MacBook to confirm whether the problem is the hub or your computer.
