If the ESC key is flashing, Fn Lock is turned on. When Fn Lock is activated, the Esc key flashes every second, which means the keyboard is set to use the F1–F12 keys as standard function keys instead of media shortcut keys.
In this mode:
- F1–F12 work as standard function keys
- Media controls (volume, brightness, playback) require holding the Fn key
To switch back to media shortcut mode:
- Press and hold Fn + Esc for 1–2 seconds, or until the Esc key stops flashing.
- The Esc key stops flashing, which means Fn Lock is off.
When the ESC key is no longer flashing:
- Media shortcut keys can be used without holding Fn
- Function keys (F1–F12) require holding the Fn key
