Yes, Thunderbolt 3 devices are fully compatible with the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub. You’ll be able to utilize their maximum capabilities, such as 40Gbps transfer speeds and dual 4K display support.
Can I use the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub to charge my laptop?
Yes, the hub supports up to 60W of power delivery (PD) via the Thunderbolt 4 upstream port. Ensure your laptop’s charging requirements match or are below this limit for effective charging.

Is DSC Supported?
Display Stream Compression (DSC) is a technology that compresses video signals to reduce the amount of data transmitted, allowing for higher resolutions and refresh rates over the same bandwidth. It was introduced with DisplayPort 1.4.
The Satechi Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub does not support DSC because its ports only support DisplayPort (DP) 1.2.
Will this support dual display for M1 or M2 MacBooks?
It will only support 1 external display when using an M1 or M2 MacBook.
(Dual display supported only on Apple M1 Pro/Max and intel based MacBooks)
This is not a limitation of the Dock, but a limitation of the Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports on the new M1/M2-based Macs.
All other functionality on the dock including laptop charging will work as normal.
For Dual Display support, we recommend the following adapters that were designed specifically for M1/M2 MacBooks by downloading the free software SiliconMotion (SiliconMotion is only supported with the following adapters)

Do any of the ports on this dock support charging?
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 Data port (10gbps) will support around 10W while the Thunderbolt 4 Ports will support 15W for charging. While these ports are capable of charging smaller devices at a slightly slower rate, these ports were mainly designed for data transfer (via flash drives, external hard drives)
Will this support a USB-C webcam and USB-A Microphones?
Can I charge and connect my iPad Pro?
Yes, you can utilize any of the Thunderbolt 4 ports for data transfer with your iPad Pro Connected. It will also charge your iPad Pro if needed, at a slightly slower rate (@15W)
Does the 10Gb USB-A port work with the Apple SuperDrive?
Unfortunately, the Apple SuperDrive is not compatible with the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Hub. You would need to use one of the following adapters and directly connect it to your computer to use the SuperDrive:

Yes, the Thunderbolt 4 Slim Dock supports "daisy-chaining" an additional adapter through any of the Thunderbolt 4 Ports.

Yes, the three USB-C Thunderbolt ports provide up to 15W power to any connected peripherals. You may use the dock as a charger for your USB-C devices even when the hub isn't connected to a host device.

Will the card slot support my UHS-II SD card
Our Slim Thunderbolt 4 Dock is not equipped with card readers however you can connect an additional adapter or card reader and daisy chain through one of the Thunderbolt 4 Ports to extend your peripherals. We highly recommend the following:
Will this support more than 1 external hard drive if needed?
While it will support more than 1 external hard drive, we recommend using 1 drive at a time for optimum performance.
Will this support dual display on a Mac Studio?
While the M1 and M2 MacBooks natively support just one monitor, the M1 Mac Mini (or M1 Mac Studio) does natively support up to two external monitors, one via the HDMI port and a second via USB-C.
M1 models of the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro support only one external display.
