The Satechi DotDisk 80Gbps SSD Enclosure works with M.2 NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) solid state drives (SSDs) in the 2280 size only, in capacities up to 8TB.

Supported drives

• M.2 NVMe SSDs in the 2280 form factor
• Capacities up to 8TB

Not supported

• SATA (Serial ATA) SSDs
• Smaller M.2 sizes (2230, 2242, and 2260)
• SSDs with pre-installed heatsinks

Older or slower NVMe drives will still work. They transfer at their own native speed rather than the full 80Gbps the enclosure supports.
