The Satechi DotDisk 80Gbps SSD Enclosure needs a high-speed port to work. It requires a Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, or USB4 (40Gbps or faster) port on your computer.

Important

• It will not work on a standard USB-C port or a USB 3.x port.
• To reach the full 80Gbps, both your computer and your cable must support Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 Version 2 (also called USB4 Gen 3x2, 80Gbps).

The DotDisk uses a USB4 Version 2 port, which supports up to 80Gbps, the same maximum bandwidth as Thunderbolt 5. It is also backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 devices, though the speed will match whatever your port supports.

For the best performance, use the included Thunderbolt 5 cable and connect it to a Thunderbolt 5 port.

Compatible hosts include recent MacBook models (M5, M5 Pro, M5 Max and later), Mac mini (M4, M4 Pro), Mac Studio, Mac Pro, and Windows laptops with Thunderbolt 5 or an Intel 12th Gen or newer Thunderbolt 4 port.
